Industrial monitors are designed for increased durability and withstand harsh operating conditions in industrial and commercial environments. They are available in various sizes and resolutions, and mounting options are diverse: panel mounting, rack mounting, open frame, etc. Industrial monitor can be touch or not. Touch versions are available as resistive or capacitive panels.
How to choose an industrial monitor?
When choosing an industrial monitor, it is important to consider the conditions and place of its future use. Will it be subject to splashing? The dust? Is high brightness required? The type of installation (rack mounting, panel mounting, etc.) is also important. Which touchpad is more adapted to your application and what degree of protection do you need?
Depending on the working environment and the intended use, you can choose:

- Monitor resolution. Resolution is the degree of detail in an image, expressed in pixels.

- LCD monitor (liquid crystal display) uses backlit pixels, providing a standard image, lack of black density and shades of gray. The backlight system makes the LCD monitor wide enough and heavy. The LCD monitor is very energy intensive, but its advantage is that it is affordable.
- LED monitor is quite widespread in the market. The image is accurate and uniform. LED monitors are illuminated by LEDs. This provides better image quality, better contrast and, in addition, this technology saves about 30% energy compared to LCD monitors. LED monitors are slightly more expensive than LCD monitors, but remain affordable.

There are two touch panel technologies:
- Resistive technology: two conductive layers are separated by an insulating layer. When the user touches the layer, the two conductive films come into contact with each other, which leads to the flow of current. The device will supply voltage, the coordinates of which on the screen will be measured and transmitted to the system. This panel is needed in many applications (GPS, video games, cash registers, electronic diaries, etc.), it is potentially more accurate than the capacitive panel, and responds to any form of pressing. The resistive panel responds to touch with a stylus, gloved hand, bare finger, fingernail, etc. It is resistant to water, grease and dust. On the other hand, the resistive screen is more sensitive to scratches and other damage caused by sharp objects. It is also less reactive than a capacitive screen; its reactivity decreases over time. Finally, resistive panels are less transparent, which leads to a loss of 20 to 25% of the brightness of the screen.
- Capacitive technology: in this technology, a layer placed on a glass plate accumulates charges. When the user touches the layer with a finger, charges are transferred to it, which creates a measurable interruption of the electrostatic field on the layer. Then the sensors determine the coordinates of the affected area. For multi-touch applications, it is necessary to use panels with projection capacitive technology. They can function with thicker screens. You can also cover the touch panel with a durable armored glass screen. A capacitive monitor has many advantages: it is reliable and scratch resistant, it is also brighter and more transparent than a resistive panel (90% transparency compared to 75% for resistive panels). The sensitivity of the screen is also higher: just touch the touch panel to get an immediate reaction. The disadvantage of capacitive technology is that it does not work when the user uses gloves.
